Why fruit sells itself
A red strawberry and a yellow banana need no explanation on a shelf. Fruit shapes convert in gift shops, grocery impulse bays and school stores because the colour is the message. Strawberry, banana, apple, peach and watermelon slice cover most demand.
Jumbo is the premium tier
Jumbo fruit (12–20 cm) retails at $15–25 on the top-ranked sites, against $5–10 for standard sizes. Jumbo pieces need denser foam and a thicker skin or they sag on the shelf; ask for a squeeze-cycle test result, not just a photo.
Textures
Slow-rise PU foam gives the realistic airbrushed look; creamy silicone gives the premium hand-feel; transparent glitter TPR turns an apple into a collectible. A mixed carton across two textures lets a retailer test price points with one order.
Scent and safety
Optional fruit scents must be IFRA-compliant; ask for the scent supplier's declaration. Age grading 3+ requires the small-parts test in ASTM F963-23 — stems and leaves are the usual failure points, so check that they are moulded, not glued.
Seasonality
Fruit peaks for back-to-school and summer party favours. FOB dates should be at least 60 days ahead of the retail window when shipping by sea.
